SAINTS OUTLAST OWLS

GAFFNEY, SC:  The Limestone College men’s soccer team (2-1-1) defeated Warren Wilson College (0-4-0) by a score of 2-1 at Saints Field on Wednesday.

Timmy Costanzo put Limestone on the board first when he scored off a cross in front of the net from David Ash in the 15th minute.  Warren Wilson would not go away however, and the Owls knotted the game at one when Conor McGeehan found the net in the 43rd minute.

Six minutes into the second half, Costanzo passed to Ash who found Tom Beattie for the eventual game-winner.

Limestone controlled the ball throughout the contest, out shooting Warren Wilson 28-7.  However, Owls keeper Chris Wilhelm kept his team within striking distance with an outstanding 10 saves.

Head Coach Eric Alsop felt his team “came out flat.  However, we had some guys come off the bench and play well.  That gave us just enough of a spark.”

Limestone will return to action on Saturday, September 10, when they travel to Pembroke, NC, to take on UNC Pembroke.  That game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
